Where do you work?
Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office
What type of legal work do you do?
I primarily work in real estate, commercial, and construction practice areas. I draft, negotiate, and review leases, development agreements, and commercial contracts, as well as litigate the disputes that may arise from those contracts. As an attorney for the Board of County Commissioners, I also draft legislation that goes before the Commission.
When and why did you join MDFAWL?
President Angela Benjamin is one of my mentors in the office and always speaks highly of the relationships she has formed and maintained as part of MDFAWL. She encouraged me to join, and I have found the community very welcoming!
What was your most rewarding professional achievement?
My most rewarding professional achievement has been handling, along with two other attorneys, a six-week arbitration with claims valuing over $30,000,000. This was my first arbitration, and because of the support of my colleagues, I was able to cross-examine six witnesses and direct-examine a witness. I also participated in strategizing and drafting all the filings for the arbitration. Overall, this has been rewarding not only because of the experience I gained but also because the team I worked with trusted my opinion, my work, and my advice throughout the arbitration.
